Ember & Comet
Ember and Comet were with our organization from June 11th until September 11th. Both were afraid of people and needed a lot of time and patience. During their time with us, we were able to see their character emerge. We set them up in a 5-star cat hotel, with their own bedroom, bathroom, daily house service, gourmet meals, and a beautiful view on the outside. They even had their own show! Outside, the Squirrels would come by every day, and on the inside 3 cats and 4 Hoomans kept on passing by and checking on them.
Comet, as the smart cookie, could not be tricked twice! She would learn very quickly how to escape our cuddling sessions, or the bedtime lock up: running free during the day was wonderful, but going back in their cat house at night, became a challenge: no number of treats or games would enable us to get them in and close the gate at night anymore!
Ember, as the quirkier of the two, could not resist the Red Dot, loved his cork and other toys, but still escaped being held no matter what. Comet was easier to pet If - only If - you had her favorite treat with you. That was the only time we were able to have her on our laps. Ember stayed off the laps, and would get closer for treats, but was not ready to cuddle. He would let us pet him when he was napping but that was the closest, he got to affection.
From what we have heard from their adopters, Comet is doing well enjoying the sun in front of the windows with his new “sister”, and Ember gets cuddles, brings his toys in the bed, and is still the funny boy we were able to see in him, despite his fear of being held.
