TNR

Trap

TNR involves trapping a community cat with a humane trap, taking them to a clinic to get spayed, neutered, and vaccinated, then returning them to where they were caught.

TNR is humane and a proven approach for stray & feral cats.  TNR improves the lives of feral cats and decreases colony size over time.  It allows the population to sterilize and prevent new kittens from being born.

Neuter

TNR relieves cats of the stress of mating and pregnancy, improving cats’ health.  It also eliminates the chance of cats developing cancerous tumors.  Vaccinating protects feral cats against infection diseases and puts caregivers at ease.

Return

After spaying/neutering, behaviors such as yowling and fighting cease.  Community cats become tamer and the cats’ relationships with caregivers improves.

TNR reduces taxpayer money spent on euthanasia of cats in shelters.  Euthanasia of feral cats is proven ineffective and an unnecessary use of taxpayer money.  TNR is a better, cheaper alternative that improves the lives and health of cats and demonstrates a compassionate and effective approach to serving the animals in our community.
