South Georgia Colony Assistance
Mary Ann does TNR, rescue, and feeds for multiple colonies in South GA. Catlanta Care supports her work by covering some of the medical costs for these cats. Her full story:
I started rescuing cats and doing TNR in 2016. I paid for about 25 out of pocket and then I solicited support from several organizations. I have spayed and neutered around 400 cats and have sent probably 250 kittens and cats to rescues. All of this is from one little county in Georgia (Schley) with no animal control or humane society. The need is so great. Even with those figures, I still am unable to help them all. I continue to do what I do because there is simply no one else here that is interested. I could not have accomplished what I have done without multiple organizations, the main one being The Feral Cat Program of Georgia. They have paid for the majority of my spays and neuters and continue to do so. Any vetting required comes out of my pocket.
Currently, I am feeding 5 different colonies with a total of about 36 cats every day. I give them both dry food and wet food. If one gets sick I treat with antibiotics in food. I treat for fleas and ticks.
I feed one colony at the end of my driveway, two other colonies I feed in yards of people willing to let me do so. I feed two colonies on an abandoned property, although I have the permission of the landowner to do so.
