Bottle Babies
On April 13, 2024, Catlanta Care received an urgent call from a dear friend, Becca, a Vet Tech who asked if we knew anyone who could bottle-feed kittens. Four kittens had been brought to the vet along with their mom, who had tragically been attacked by three dogs. Despite the vet team’s best efforts, the mom’s cat’s injuries were too extensive, and she had to be euthanized.
Recognizing the dire situation, we reached out to a friend who manages Transformed by Love, an organization that happened to have two mom cats still nursing. The kittens were promptly picked up in Acworth and driven to East Point where the two nursing mom cats were located. Sadly, the attempt to have the kittens nurse was unsuccessful. However, with Becca’s dedication, a foster caregiver was found.
Despite the best efforts, one of the kittens who had been without his mom for four days, didn’t survive. Nevertheless, the other three kittens began to thrive under the loving care of their foster mom. Catlanta Care took an active role in their continued care by sponsoring their spay and neuter procedures at Good Mews Animal Foundation, handling both the drop-off and pick-up.
The three resilient kittens stayed with us for a week as they recovered from their surgeries. During this time, they received lots of love and attention. Thanks to Becca’s perseverance, all three kittens found loving forever homes.
The experience highlights the incredible power of community, compassion, and unwavering commitment to animal welfare. From the initial rescue to their medical needs and finding them homes, it was a collective effort that showcased the heart and dedication of everyone involved.
