Winston & Julia
When we first encountered Winston and Julia, Winston was just 5 months old and his sister Julia was only 8 weeks old. Their Community Feeder initially planned to release them back into the apartment complex where they had been living. However, she was deeply concerned about Winston, who had sustained an injury to his left eye, which greatly hindered his ability to survive in the wild.
Moved by their plight, we came across a plea for help on LifeLine’s Community Cat Facebook page and knew we had to step in. Socializing kittens at 5 months is notoriously challenging but not impossible. It requires immense patience and dedicated effort.
To our delight and amazement, Winston began to accept and trust us within just two weeks of his placement. His bravery and willingness to embrace his new environment are truly a testament to the love he has to give. Julia, on the other hand, proved to be a tougher nut to crack. It took over two months of tireless work and gentle coaxing before she stopped striking out.
Through compassion and perseverance, both Winston and Julia have made incredible strides. Their journey from fearful kittens to trusting companions is a testament to the power of love and dedication. We are immensely proud of their progress and honored to have played a part in their transformation.
Winston loves pets and Hartz squeeze-ups. His favorite pastime is playing with a soft worm at the end of a fishing wand. Julia is still scared but she enjoys pets so much she is conflicted with her love of pets and distrust of humans. Our volunteers have dedicated many hours to these two and we can definitely see a huge improvement. On 10/21, they were transferred to Good Mews for the best chance at adoption.
